Essentials: Chaz Bojorquez ARTIST + CALLIGRAPHER
During our recent visit to the domain of legendary artist Chaz Bojorquez for our Spaces series, the celebrated painter laid out a few items that that are a must-have for him in another installment of Essentials. A pioneer behind the Cholo-style graffiti that decorates the streets of Los Angeles, Chaz has expanded his art to advertisement campaigns, exclusive threads, and even the big screen. With retirement nowhere in sight, the California native continues to showcase his work at international art shows and one-man exhibits, becoming the oldest living graffiti artist still creating. With a passport and camera in hand ready to document his worldly travels, the toting of a few street markers may imply there’s still a few streets out there that could use his iconic art.

SheOne has been painting and making graphics for twenty years, exhibiting in Los Angeles, New York, Tokyo, Sydney, Singapore, Berlin and Milan. His own brand of abstract typography is rooted deep in the new wave graffiti era of the early eighties but his stylised shorthand and uniquely expressive approach to paintings keep him firmly in the present.
“My approach to image making is to re-render abstracted hand drawn typography. Hip, data injected splats, overspray and accurate spills relay an emotional slang mapped out in a highly personal shorthand.”

Graffiti and street art fans should check out this gallery
No Walls is an independent gallery based in Brighton, UK. We aim to challenge the conventional view of a contemporary art gallery and strongly believe art should be accessible to all. We encourage visitors to the gallery whether they’re in the market for buying something special or just having a browse. We’re always open, honest and happy to shoot the breeze.
You can find our permanent space in the heart of Brighton’s lanes on Prince Albert Street. On our ground floor you’ll find an ever-changing selection of prints and originals from all of the artists we sell. Our first floor project space is used for regular shows and kicking back on our battered old sofa.
We’re only new to this but have already developed a loyal and devoted following of customers from all corners of the globe who we’ve come to know and love. We’re open seven days a week… come and see what all the fuss is about…
